NATYASANGEETACHI WAATCHAAL

The first ever Marathi play was staged in 1843. Marathi musical theatre, “Sangeet Nataks” was first performed in 1879. Through the 19th and 20th century though, playwrights like Annasaheb Kirloskar and Bal Gandharva took Marathi Natyasangeet into its Golden Era.

Paying homage to their contributions and the flourishing Marathi musical plays, we created the program “Natyasangeetachi Vatchal”, blending storytelling, history and live performances to preserve and promote this rich tradition.

“From Heritage to Heartbeat” our core thought in curating this program, is finding wide acceptance and showers of love from people of all ages, those who have experienced actual Marathi sangeet nataks to the younger generation being introduced to it through this program
